My name is Stelios Panos and I am a guitar teacher for 23 years. My main guitar used to be a Fender Stratocaster with the latest one a 1992 model, and a 1977 Martin M-36 acoustic. I also use a 1981 Contreras studio classical guitar.
That's until Django came into my life, after watching Jimmie Rosenberg at the movie: "The father the son and the talent" back in 2007. A year later I was at Paris and I purchased a nice 2004 "Castelluccia" (Sweet Chorus) Manouche Guitar second hand. Since then that's my main guitar.
Trying to play Django's music I was getting info's from the internet (tabs, scores, videos), collecting whatever was useful and transcribing the solos from the songs by ear, which is the best way, but it needs a lot of (rewinding, stop and play), and some good software to slow down the tempo.
I used to play jazz guitar before I discovered Django, by using "Band in a Box", which for me was the best way to learn the tunes from Parker, Duke, Monk, Miles and all the other great jazz musicians.
So I decided to do a full "Django Reinhardt for Band in a Box" collection of all the solos and melodies Django ever played. There are about 250 songs for the solos and another 200 with the main theme melodies. If you like to play guitar the way Django did, and you are into BB or want to discover it, here it is! (December 2011).
Good news! Band in a Box presents BB 2014 with the ability to set your own fingerings on the fret board!
So by the mid of 2014, I started to work to make the fingerings and the bending’s in the tablature of Django in a Box, (Both "Real Book" 200 songs and "The solos" 250 songs).
Working hard specially at the three last months to do the solos, the result is very rewarding. The DiaB (TBR) is ready with the correct positions and even the bends! Wow what an experience into Django!!! (TBR)=Tablature and Bends Ready!
Plus a Gypsy Guitar sampler that I've made just before the TBR session begins
More work with Django by adding the real audio on all the solos and sync them with the score (tablature), by the end of June the result is very impressive, now we can hear the original recordings over the 250 solos, and the name of it DiaB (HDR) = Hear Django Ready!
October 2015, Doing all the above to Wes Montgomery for Band in a Box (Tab Ready and Real audio)!
March 1st 2016 and Charlie Christian is ready with the real sound over the notes and the tab.
No excuse anymore for learning the Jazz Guitar!
7th of July 2016 , Charlie Parker is Ready to hear with original audio synced and Tablature!
Thanks for your time and I hope you will enjoy learning and jamming with DiaB!
P.S In case you are broke and want few of the songs just contact me!
